Jake Green is a PhD student in the Department of Media Studies at the University of Virginia. He is currently interested in how synthetic media and generative AI models are transforming cultural practices. Jake previously completed his MA degree at UVA in Religious Studies; his master’s thesis theorizes how TikTok’s manifestation trend shaped spiritual discourses and modes of ritual on the app during the pandemic. He graduated in 2021 with a BA in English and Religious Studies from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida.
