Dr. Idu Meadows

Junior Fellow

Dr. Idu Meadows holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry and a degree in Respiratory Therapy from Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania and the University of District of Columbia. She later pursued a Medical Degree at the University of Antigua, and Internal Medicine residency at the University of Arkansas Medical Services—Baptist Health. Dr. Meadows is currently pursuing a post-doctoral fellowship in Infectious Disease research and clinical care at the University of Virginia. Her passion for Medicine and Infectious Diseases, in particular, was influenced by her mother’s dedication to patient care, as she witnessed the devastating effects of tuberculosis during active disease outbreaks while accompanying her mother to work as a teenager. Consequently, her research focuses on infections of global health significance, notably tuberculosis and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). She is actively involved in studying the diagnosis and management of post-tuberculosis lung diseases in Tanzania. Beyond her work in Infectious Diseases, she is keenly interested in critical care management. She is fascinated by the intricate relationship between infectious diseases and critical care, exploring how these two areas intersect in patient management and treatment outcomes.
