Anna Guterman

Anna Guterman is a third-year PhD student in the Religious Studies department who focuses on Hindu-Muslim encounters in premodern South Asia. Her works centers on music, mystical experience, poetry and literature, Sanskrit-Persian translation, and sound studies. She's also a musician herself. She co-chairs the Religious Studies Graduate Organization at UVa, which puts on academic, professional development, and social events.  

 

Anna received her Master of Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School, and her BA from Naropa University. She worked as a preservationist and special collections assistant at the Harvard Loeb Music Library. Anna contributed to a forthcoming edited volume on yogic traditions and sacred sound practices.
