Zhengping Zhang
Zhengping Zhang is a third-year PhD student in the Philosophy Department. She graduated from St. John’s College with a BA in Liberal Arts, where she studied the Great Books program. Originally with a career goal of becoming a therapist, she first earned a master’s degree in Counseling and Mental Health Services at the University of Pennsylvania. After realizing a stronger passion for philosophy, she returned to study philosophy and received an MA in Humanities (focusing on Philosophy) at the University of Chicago before starting her PhD at UVa, with the hope of continuing to investigate the philosophical questions intersecting with mental health. Her research interests include topics around self-trust, self-knowledge/self-understanding, and self-deception, as well as their interactions with the social environment.
